friday i'm in love |
2002-05-24 |
good friday to you too. javi caught a ball for the first time yesterday afternoon as my sis and i played our version of soccer in my mama's front yard. keep in mind, for us it's just kicking the (basket)ball back and forth, the higher the better, without letting it reach the road. javi would grab the ball, throw it up a little and then catch it in his arms. we were almost dizzy with excitement. this lil boy LOVES a basketball. well, any kind of ball, really, and he loves to throw. now that's he's catching, there's a whole new level in his entertainment. i love firsts. speaking of, i mentioned setting a date for javi's first haircut. i did this in front of his maternal grandmother, paternal grandfather, and my sister. how bout his PaPa (which javi can say very clearly) "let me know" that he had already had javi's hair cut!!! "it was just a trim, jez" he said like it was nobody's business and just had to be done and i shouldn't be upset about it. but, that's MY baby and i missed his FIRST hair cut!! my lord, i can't even begin to explain the anger and frustration directed toward this man after he told me all this. i just said to him, "Terry, don't ever do anything like that with javi without consulting me first." he tried to snivel his way out of it, but i was firm and unrelenting and perhaps a bit harsh and i think the point got across. anyway, i'm not thinking of that trim as a real first hair cut. rather, javi's had a first trim. his first hair cut will fall on his 2nd birthday. no sooner, no later. it's not a big deal, though, cause the boy hardly has any hair and it's curly, so it's not straggly or in his eyes. actually, he's got the best hair, especially after his bath when i lotion it up and it sits in lil baby curls on his head. okay, back to work now. more from this front later.
you got something to say?
