my boss and i just got back from the longest lunch in history. actually, it wasn't that long, 11am to 2pm. that's actually pretty standard around here. i think i pull it every friday. in other news: i need a vacation. of course, i'm going to the beach in less than a month and to ocracoke in less than two months, but i need a vacation right now. i've been offered The Lost Sea and Ozone Falls, both in central Tennessee, but i think i want some city action. perhaps i should escape to dc or boston. i've seriously considered flying to san francisco for a week, and then spending another week in LA. with the wee one, of course. problems: i haven't accrued two weeks vacation, plane tickets are expensive, have you ever seen a 13 month old child on a long plane trip?, have you see the looks given to the mother of the 13 month old child on a long plane trip if the child so much as whimpers?, neither my aunt, cousin, nor grandma has space to put us up for a week, so i'd have to rent a room in SF, i don't think bernd and seth are prepared to adjust their Boys'll Be Boys lifestyles to accomodate a 13 month old child, so i'd have to get a room in LA. i've also considered san diego. of course, i've not been around my grandfather in decades and he only speaks spanish and my whole reason for being there would be to meet him (again, as an adult) and introduce him to his great-grandson. looks like my vacations are too complex and elaborate. i'm also scheming to get my girls/boys to take a joint trip to New Orleans. jazz festival is out, but a week in n.o. any time kicks ass. and this time'll be much better than my last time when i wound up escaping to houston only to wind up taking care of my dad (fresh out of rehab for the last time) and coming back to NC via a 30 hour Greyhound trip (luggage got back a week after i did). anyway, if you have simple vacation plans that'll work for babes, give me a holler! i'm up for suggestions...
