this just in: i have adopted and spread what i didn't know was the new term for female friends of color. sistah-girl. i didn't know. honestly. i don't mind cause, frankly, being a female of color, i have many female friends of color and i think of them as my sistah-girls. i just didn't know that i was, once again, on to something new and just-a-little-underground. i love it when this happens, although i must admit that being one of the few who brought hair colored with ritt dye or tights and combat boots to my rural highschool really doesn't factor high on my list of trend-setting. i prefer to list gold eyeshadow, tank tops and cardigans (all-season-gear), Quetila, Alcoholic Princess (TM), and "the club shirt" as my more positive achievements.
[p.s. there's no other feeling quite like eating fresh mango while listening to Las Levanderas de Gabriel Romero y su Orquestra.]
